IIM Raipur was established in 2010 in the capital city of Chattisgarh, Raipur. IIM Indore mentors IIM Raipur in terms of preparation of curriculum structure, academic support and other areas. IIM Raipur is the only institute for extending Written Ability Test and Personal interview calls based on CAT scores. It did not use any other criteria in 2015 for extending the stage-II personal interview calls. In this article, we try to understand IIM Raipur Selection Criteria.
Selection Criteria of IIM Raipur
IIM Raipur followed a 3 stage process for selecting candidates to its PG Programme in Management.
(CAT: Common Admission Test, WAT: Written Ability Test and PI: Personal Interview)
Stage-I (Applying and Writing CAT)
In Stage I, candidates have to apply online for CAT and appear for the exam. In this stage, IIMs gather all the requisite information from the candidates related to past academics, work experience, details of various degrees etc. Once the candidate appears for CAT, then stage – II starts.
Stage-II (Selection for WAT/PI Round)
Only Criteria for Stage-II selection:
Candidates have to clear the following section-wise cutoffs as well as overall cutoff, merit list was drawn and IIM Raipur called candidates in the descending order:
Stage-III (Final Selection)
Candidates who were selected based on above parameters were further tested on Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview. In WAT, a topic was given and candidates were asked to pen their thoughts in 15 minutes. In personal interviews, candidates were further evaluated based on their academics, work experience, personal and professional achievements. The Final weightage given for admissions to PGP in IIM Raipur was as under:
A maximum of 32 marks were awarded under this. Students score was divided with the highest score obtained by topper in CAT and multiplied with 32 to get the final marks.
10th,12th and Graduation Marks
A maximum of 7, 6 and 7 marks were awarded to candidate’s 10th, 12th and graduation marks. Following table used for allocation of marks based on percentages.
A maximum of 6 marks were awarded based on the following classification:
Diversity Factor – Academic Background and Gender
Students with Arts/Commerce/Professional Course/Medicine and other non-Engineering subjects were given extra marks of 6 and girls get extra 6 marks.
Written Ability Test and Personal Interview
WAT and PI were given a weightage of 10% and 20% respectively in the final admission of IIM Rohtak.
