List of Sanctuaries in India

The term ‘Sanctuary’ should denote an area:

  • Which is, set aside for the conservation, protection and management of wildlife and its habitat;
  • Within which, destruction or damage, exploitation, weapons, hunting and grazing, are all prohibited except by, or under the direction or control of, the reserve authorities;
  • Where human settlement and other human activities are restricted and prohibited.

India currently has more than 500 sanctuaries spread across its length and breadth. From exam point of view, it is very difficult to recollect the entire list. So I recommend readers to judiciously use the list by restricting to few important states or some areas of interest.

Currently the following table is compatible to view on desktop, laptop and tablet. Mobile users have to use landscape to get better view.
